Colon polyps AKA colorectal polyps are small growths that can develop on the lining of the colon or rectum, or they can grow anywhere in the large intestine.
They are small clumps of cells, that vary in size and shape, and form on the lining of the colon.
Common Symptoms
Colon polyps don’t usually cause symptoms and mostly harmless. But over time, some colon polyps can develop into colon cancer – a fatal condition when found in its later stages.
One might not know they have a polyp until your health care provider finds it during a colonoscopy or rectal examination.
