A broken nose, or a nose fracture, is a break or crack in a bone in your nose — often the bone over the bridge of your nose due to a sudden impact to the nose or face.
Common Symptoms
- Severe pain with or without swelling.
- Nosebleed or clear watery mucus discharge.
- Nose may look crooked or changed shape
- Difficulty breathing through – may feel blocked
- A crunching or crackling sound upon touch
- Tenderness, especially when touching your nose
- May have a cut on the bridge of the nose.
- Swelling in the surrounding areas
- Bruising around your nose or eyes (black eyes).
- Sometimes severe headache, neck pain, vomiting or loss of consciousness
Common Causes or Risk factors
- Falls e.g., off a bike or walking into a wall or fixed object
- Contact sports: Such as basketball, hockey and kickboxing without a helmet that has a face mask.
- Wrestling-type play.
- Physical fights
- Motor vehicle accidents especially without a seat belt
- Riding a bicycle while no helmet on
Further Complications
- DNS – Deviated nasal septum. A condition occurs when the thin wall dividing the two sides of your nose (nasal septum) is displaced, narrowing your nasal passage.
- Cartilage fracture, due to a forceful blow, such as from an automobile accident, you also may experience a cartilage fracture.
- Neck injury. If a blow is strong enough to break your nose, it may also be strong enough to damage the bones in your neck.
- Blood clots or collection of blood creating a condition called a septal hematoma.
Prevention
- Wear a helmet during bicycle or motorcycle rides.
- Always wear your seat belt when traveling.
- Wear the recommended safety equipment, such as a helmet with a face mask, when playing hockey, football or other contact sports.
- Hold an ice pack (or bag of frozen peas) wrapped in a tea towel on your nose for up to 15 minutes, several times a day
- Treat nosebleeds by sitting or standing upright and leaning forward – if possible, pinch your nose above the nostrils for up to 15 minutes
- Keep your head upright when lying in bed by adding more pillows – this will help to reduce swelling
- Clean the wound and cover with a plaster or dressing
- Do not try to straighten your nose yourself if it’s changed shape!
- Avoid wearing glasses until the swelling has gone down
- Do not pick or blow your nose until it’s healed
- Do not engage in strenuous exercise or play sports until fully recovered.

We offer a ready-to-use complementary remedies kit designed to ease discomfort and support well-being, with clear instructions for each item.
The kit includes a personalised selection of remedies based on your signs, symptoms, and likely causative factors.
It may combine homeopathic medicines, herbal or daily supplements, a tailored diet plan, lifestyle guidance, practical tips, and topical applications where needed. It’s suitable if you value the healing potential of natural, holistic remedies.
Complementary remedies work best alongside standard medical treatments and can usually be taken safely with your regular medications.
Our homeopathic remedies follow Dr. Hahnemann’s traditional dilution and succussion methods and are prepared by a qualified naturopathic practitioner, supported by research, clinical experience, and observed outcomes in similar cases. Treatment duration can range from a few weeks to several months, depending on severity and chronicity. Outcomes vary with individual factors and case complexity.

You may contact us before starting or book a detailed consultation (in person or via teleconsultation) with one of our experienced naturopath for your detailed assessment or personalized guidance.
Natural remedies can affect the body and may not suit everyone. At the start of treatment, some patients—especially with mental health or skin issues—may experience a temporary increase in symptoms. This may represent medicinal aggravation, indicating the body is responding, though symptoms may not be connected and simply coincidental. If they persist, contact us for support.
Why some patients choose natural, complementary or holistic remedies:
• Symptomatic relief and improved well-being
• Gentle options with fewer side effects
• Whole-person focus, addressing physical, emotional, and lifestyle factors
• Root-cause and preventive emphasis
• Encouragement of active self-care
• Support alongside conventional treatment
• Personalised and accessible care
Precautions:
• Inform your healthcare provider about any complementary therapies
• Some herbs or supplements may interact with conventional medications
• Do not replace conventional treatment for serious, chronic, or terminal conditions
These complementary remedy kits are provided for your own discretion and personal responsibility. Use them mindfully and avoid self-medicating in sensitive situations.
