Sarcoidosis is a rare condition that causes tiny collections of immune system cells or inflamed tissues to form in different organs any part of the body, known as granulomas – that can affect the function of that organ.

The cause of sarcoidosis is not known, but it’s likely a mix of genetic and environmental factors.

- Occasionally, it can be inherited.
- It often occurs between the ages of 20 and 60 years.
