Ringworm is a contagious infection, most common in toddlers and school-age children that can spread from person to person. It normally causes red, circular patches on the skin along with itching.
Tinea capitis – An infection of the scalp that spreads through direct contact with an infected person or by using objects like caps, combs, hair-brushes, pillows that have been contaminated by a ringworm infection.
Ringworm of the scalp appears as round patches where the hair has broken off at or just above the scalp. These bald-looking patches slowly grow larger.
The condition can cause kerion a severe, painful inflammation of the scalp known as Kerion that appears as soft, raised swellings that drain pus, where the hair falls out or can be easily pulled out.
