- It’s generally caused by compression or trap of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, which provides sensation to the skin covering the thigh.

- Seat belt injury after a motor vehicle accident or a direct trauma.
- Metabolic factors, such as diabetes, alcoholism, or lead poisoning
- Other conditions, such as scoliosis, pelvic osteotomy, or spine surgery

- Scar tissue near the inguinal ligament due to injury or past surgery.
