Description

The trigeminal nerve is a pair of cranial nerves that send and receive sensory and motor information from the face to the brain.

Trigeminal neuralgia, also known as tic douloureux, is a condition that causes intense, sudden, sharp, shooting or electric shock like pain near the ears on one side of the face.

It presents brief episodes of stabbing / lancinating facial pains in 2nd and 3rd division of trigeminal nerve, aggravated by even light touch, drafts, eating etc.

It mainly arises from an irritated or damaged trigeminal nerve, which carries signals from the face to the brain.

The trigeminal nerve’s function is disrupted due to pressure on the nerve because of injury to bone or connective tissue or to a blood vessel supplying the nerve.

During initial phase there are short or mild episodes of pain, but the condition can get worse, causing longer periods of more frequent pains.

The risk gets higher for patients with certain health conditions such as hypertension, multiple sclerosis (damaged myelin sheath) or a tumor pressing against the trigeminal nerve also can cause the condition.

Some people may also experience trigeminal neuralgia as a result of a stroke or facial trauma.

It’s more common in women and people older than 50.

Natural remedies can affect the body and may not suit everyone. At the start of treatment, some patients—especially with mental health or skin issues—may experience a temporary increase in symptoms. This may represent medicinal aggravation, indicating the body is responding, though symptoms may not be connected and simply coincidental. If they persist, contact us for support.

• Symptomatic relief and improved well-being
• Gentle options with fewer side effects
